Sovereign® is indicated for the treatment and control of liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica) as well as ivermectin-sensitive parasites, including gastrointestinal roundworms such as brown stomach worm (Ostertagia ostertagi), wireworm (Haemonchus placei), cattle bankrupt worm (Cooperia spp.), nodular worm (Oesophagostomum radiatum), lungworm (Dictyocaulus viviparus), eyeworm (Thelazia spp.), and blue ticks (Rhipicephalus spp.). It contains ivermectin (15 g/?) and triclabendazole (240 g/?), belonging to the macrocyclic lactones and benzimidazole/probenzimidazole groups, and should be stored below 30 °C, protected from light, with the container closed when not in use. After topical application along the top line, Sovereign® acts systemically, with absorption through the skin; ticks must bite and take a blood meal for control to occur, meaning the product is intended to reduce blue tick numbers rather than prevent tick-borne diseases, though regular strategic use may significantly lower disease risk. Withdrawal periods are 39 days for meat, and it must not be used in cattle producing milk for human consumption. The product should be used only in well-ventilated areas or outdoors, without over- or underdosing, and should not be applied to damaged or heavily soiled skin; animals must be kept away from open flames and electrical equipment during and immediately after application due to flammability. Users should wear rubber gloves, avoid contact with eyes, refrain from eating, drinking, or smoking while handling, and seek medical advice in cases of poisoning or eye exposure. Sovereign® must be applied at 1 m? per 10 kg body weight along the top line of the rump/lumbar area, directly onto the skin in long-haired animals, using a recommended applicator with a fan-spray nozzle; dosing should be based on the heaviest animal in each group, with accurate weighing, and divided if size variation is large. Animals should not be treated when wet or if rain is imminent, Sovereign® should be applied last when multiple treatments are given, and all containers and waste must be disposed of according to environmental regulations, kept out of reach of children and animals, not reused, and not allowed to contaminate water sources.
